Is Buying A Clone A Better Choice?

You Can't Deny How Good A Clone Works!
Why Clones Might Actually Be A Better Choice

Time to kick off Frugal Friday, and today I will be discussing an issue many vapers have different opinions about, whether or not to buy a clone or a replica.

There are two main issues buyers have when it comes getting a clone. One is ethical: Do I cheat the vaping industry by purchasing knock offs? Second, and a more common issue, is quality: Will it last as long or perform as well as the original?

*Disclaimer: This does not apply to ALL original mods in the market. There are a lot of originals out there that are fairly priced. This is geared towards the more high-priced, elusive brands that end up getting cloned.

1. Ethics – In the case of ethics, I honestly think that some of these mods on the market are unethically priced. I would understand that Variable Voltage mods are high priced, since there is some sort of technology involved in producing them.

But in the case of mechanical mods, I really don’t get why someone should pay $100 – $200, sometimes even more, in buying one. First of all, it pretty much works like a flashlight: stick the battery in, press the button and it heats up. What special technology is involved in there? Nothing worth paying 100 bucks for in my opinion.

I know that some models are high priced because they are limited. Manufacturers will only make 1000 units, sell them worldwide and discontinue production for that model. To me, that’s sort of an elitist, somewhat bourgeois thing to do, a “dick” move so to speak. I was told I could save more money by vaping.

2. Quality – True, clones need a lot more TLC compared to originals, but if you continuously and carelessly drop any unit (clone or original), it will break down eventually.

Common issues clones have that I have experienced are the threading and sometimes the firing button. Other than that, they work just fine. Sure, they feel a little cheaper made, but you get what you pay for. Bottom line is, they vape!

Some will say, “Support modders, buy only the original.” But some of these modders don’t seem to care when it comes to filling the demand. Sometimes, its not an issue of price anymore, but getting an original mod that is actually available. Some of them come with a ridiculous 7-month waiting period. Ain’t nobody got time for that!

If you do have the money, are able to find a mod you want in stock, or don’t mind the wait, then go ahead and buy an original. I just don’t think it is fair when people bash others for buying clones. I believe majority of the vapers aren’t rich and have started vaping due to monetary reasons, which is why clones are so popular.
