I came across a sponsored ad on Facebook called ECigRegistry. It describes itself as a site where consumers can report e-cigarette related injuries such as nicotine overdose, exploding batteries, heart problems, etc.
Two things I see here: It is a legit website ran by a watchdog group that wants to collect data that proves e-cigarettes are dangerous, or this is an FDA (or another organization) backed project using the info they collect to use against vaping.
I tried visiting their site, which is currently it is down (not a good sign). As I write this post, it has 4 likes on FB. I will be keeping an eye on this site, but I thought this was worth sharing to everyone.
We should watch out for things like this. It is easy for an organization (i.e. FDA) with big financial backing (i.e. Tobacco companies) to start these little groups which try to appear that their interest is for the good of the community, at the same time pushing their real agenda incognito. I will be doing a post soon that gives a concrete example of this dirty tactic.
For the meanwhile, be vigilant fellow vapers!
