I am picking up from my previous post, What Kind of Mod Should I Buy?, I tried breaking down the differences between mechanical mods, mini mods, and box mods, hoping I could help readers get a better picture of the product they planned on buying.
Buying a mod can get exciting. Even after years of vaping, I still get excited when I receive vape mail. I can’t remember ever having a bad purchase because I have gotten into the habit of doing my research before I buy something.
To simplify things, the main difference between an RDA and a tank for is this: an RDA gives you a more “intense” vape, while a tank gives you more of a “convenient” vape.
I will compare the two when it comes to flavor, vapor production, and then you can base your choice off of that. If this sounds good to you, keep on reading.
RDA’s, Tanks, Flavor and Vapor Production
RDAs or “drippers” usually look like this:
The common components will be a deck, posts, and a cap. The reason I said RDAs give a more intense vape is because you directly inhale the vapor once it is produced. Drippers also have more airflow options which, when adjusted right, can really bring out the true flavor of a particular e-juice.
As for a tank, it would usually look like this:
Notice more parts? That’s because the vapor has to go through a “chimney” before it touches your mouth.
So when it comes to which tastes better I will have to give this one to RDAs, not by that much though. Tanks also produce good flavor, but a dripper has that slight upper hand.
As for vapor production, RDA’s still take the prize. The ability to build your coils anyway you want and the crazy airflow options make the RDA a cloud machine! New features like twin turbines found in the Lynnsanity RDA give off even BIGGER, robust clouds of vapor.
Tanks usually come with a pre-built coil head, so you don’t have to do all that wrapping and building. Don’t think that you can’t get creative with tanks, there are tanks that allow you to build and wrap your own coils. RDA decks however are bigger and gives you more room to work with in terms of building.
So if you want more vapor and flavor, go with the RDA. Just makes sure you have basic or coil building. An RDA needs a little more TLC compared to a tank. If you using LIKE your hands, you should definitely go for an RDA.
Also, tanks don’t really work well with a mechanical mod. If you plan on buying a mech mod, try pairing it with an RDA. Mini mods and box mods work grat with both tanks and RDA’s.
If you are more of a “casual” vaper, then go with a tank. A lot of people love tanks though (myself included) because the can carry more juice. Also, use a tank if you are a person who likes to vape on the go or vape outdoors.
