Most Popular Competition RDA’s Used In Cloud Chasing Contests

This post goes out to my reader Mohd who contacted me here on my blog:

Could you make a post about what is a “competition RDA?” I’m still confused what the difference is between an RDA and a competition RDA. And could you make a list of the top 5 or top 10 competition RDA’s?

Most certainly Mohd. By the way, any plans on entering a cloud competition? I’ll be more than happy to answer your question the best way I can and give you some top quality competition RDA’s you can start blowing clouds with.

What is a competition RDA?

The simplest way for me to explain a competition RDA is that its an RDA made specifically for cloud chasing competitions. As you might already know, there are tons of vape meets and competitions going on especially here in America.

Some of these people take these cloud competitions very, very seriously. The participants represent teams, vape shops, vendors, etc. They want to represent right, they want to be the one with the biggest clouds, and dual coil builds aren’t enough. They need the proper hardware to go hand in hand with their sub-ohm builds. It isn’t that hard to make your own RDA especially if you have the right materials and machinery. This gave birth to the competition RDA.

Differences between Competition RDA and regular RDA

Competition RDA’s have certain characteristics that are not exclusively for comp RDA’s. These characteristics are: dual/multi coil deck, swirling/vortex airflow adjustment, wide bore cap or tip, wide holed post to accommodate low gauge Kanthal, deep juice well, and other RDA modifications which you usually don’t see with the traditional RDA. These modifications were made specifically for top cloud chasing performance.

Top Competition RDA’s

Well Mohd, I didn’t come up with 10 or even 5 to choose from, but I can definitely say these are the most commonly used RDA’s in cloud competitions (unless some of our readers add input in the comments below). So I hope that helps you out in knowing where to spend your hard earned money on with comp RDA’s.

Mutation X RDA – The Mutation X RDA is probably the most consistently used RDA in competitions, and this applies to all generations. The Mutation X has come out with 5 versions already and all of them were big hits with vapers all over the world.

Kennedy Cloud Competition RDA – Now this RDA was made SPECIFICALLY for cloud chasing competitions. The Kennedy Cloud Competition RDA became such a hit with vapers that now you have a better chance finding Sasquatch than buying an authentic Kennedy online. This thing is a biyatch to find, your best bet is settling for the clone which chucks as much vapor as a legit Kennedy RDA.

Doge RDA – Much cloud chasing, very vapor! Remember the Doge meme? That cute Shiba Inu the internet made fun of? Well they decided to create an RDA based on that and it has gone viral with the vaping community.

A good alternative to the Kennedy RDA is the Tsunami RDA. The only main differences the Tsunami has with the Kennedy is the drip tip and the Vortex-style post. Other than that, both RDA’s are almost identical.

Dark Horse RDA – Not the most mentioned or celebrated on the list, but the Dark Horse does get its mention for being able to create fat clouds. This is another hard to come by RDA, so again you have to settle for the clone. Currently, both FastTech and GearBest have it in stock. Based on pictures, I can say that the GearBest version is the better of the two. I noticed the posts on the one FastTech was offering didn’t line up, yikes!

Thank you again Mohd for your question and I hope I helped you and others out there who might be curious about competition RDA’s are.

  2. Great article, as usual.

Another very popular RDAs for cloud chasing are the Phenotype-L, the TwistedMesses (as well as the 13 Heavens and 9 Hells, and the El Cabron, all very similar by compvape), the Velocity, the 454 BigBlock V2, and recently the Madness by atmistique (flavor and cloud chaser in one)

I might be missing some, but those are the ones that come to mind right now.

    1. Personally, I would go with the Tsunami 24 instead because of the posts. But if you are fixed on the Kennedy clone, the link I included in the posts will bring you to the closest to the authentic. Thanks!

      1. thanks u so muck, Mr. Long Drag. i got mine just a several hours ago. even just a clone, but it work great, at least to me, what i like most is it’s ability to prevent leaking, i have a bad habbit of over fill juice, with Tsunami (22) i usually have to clean. The flavor, i dont know if it is the best or not, cause i never tasted best flavor, but sure it gave me a very rich flavor. Amazing how just a clone can be this good, i wonder how awesome the authentic can be. Again, thanks, alot.
