There are problems when it comes to sub-ohm RTA’s. Airflow is too wide, not enough flavor, the tank gets too hot, just to name a few.
Fortunately there’s a company that has solved these problems with this new tank just released called the Engine RTA by OBS.
I was very lucky to be contacted by Heaven Gifts to review this new tank they have on their website. I’m so happy to have known about this tank or else it would’ve flew over my radar.
The OBS Engine RTA was a totally different experience from the usual wide airflow, big vapor tanks I’ve gotten used to. Same big clouds but with a tighter draw, more flavor, and a self cooling feature which I will be getting into in a little bit.
What’s inside the box?
What you get is the OBS Engine RTA, a replacement glass tank, a mini tool, user manual, o-rings, screws, cotton, and 2 twisted wire coils. They pretty much have everything you need in there and I like how they also included cotton.
The temperature control feature on the Engine RTA is on point! The tank would never, and I mean never heat up when I would chain vape on it. Very cool feature indeed.
Not only does the tank stay cool but so does your vape. I tried vaping this at 100 watts which is something I never do and the vape was cool and smooth. No burnt taste or lip-burning heat from the drip tip.
And I must say that the flavor on this tank is uh-MAY-zing! It’s definitely one of the best tasting RTA’s I’ve vaped on in a while.
The airflow on the Engine is tighter than usual if you’re the type of vaper that is used to sub-ohm tanks. But the airflow for me is perfect and really draws out the flavor on the inhale.
Easy to use and no leaks!
The Engine uses a Velocity style deck which was easy for me to attach my coils to. Simply insert the coil, screw it in place and snip the ends. There are 4 wick holes at the bottom where you insert your cotton through. The use of the deck is simple which I like.
Refilling this tank is super easy! That OBS logo on the Engine is actually a sleeve cover which you simply push up to fill with your e-liquid.
Made for cloud chasing
One thing that concerned me were the posts. They looked thin to me but held it’s own when I put it under the test. I was vaping at 0.12 and trying higher wattage. The posts did not budge and were not affected at all. The Engine takes low resistance builds like a champ!
Small package with lots of e-juice capacity
What impressed me a lot was the juice capacity of the Engine. In the picture above, I placed it next to the Griffin 25mm Mini. Although the OBS Engine is a little smaller compared to the Griffin, it holds a lot more juice. The Griffin has an e-liquid capacity of 2.5ml while the Engine holds up to 5ml! Good job OBS for being able to make room for more e-liquid in a small tank.
Final thoughts on the Engine RTA
The OBS Engine RTA is currently priced at $32.90 on HeavenGifts.com. So it comes down to the question of would I ever buy it.
Absolutely, and I’ll tell you why.
The Engine is probably the smoothest vape I’ve had in a long time. I don’t know if it’s the cooling function in it but the Engine gives off a very smooth and cool vape. The flavor is crisp whenever I vape on a new build. It may not seem like it but this tank produces a very generous amount of vapor. And when it comes to builds, this RTA is one of the easiest to work on.
Are there any changes I would like to see in the Engine? I’d probably like to see it in a single coil version or some with a disposable coil option.
But I get it, the Engine was made for low resistance builds and high wattage, and it does a very good job at what it was made for.
